At Octopus Marine, one of our shipwrights can fit traditionally cut swept teak decking on your yacht or straight striped pre-made panels made in our workshop.
If you think your current deck has come to the end of its life, then please look at the options you have below before you decide to rip it up.
It may be that you only need a couple of strips replacing that have come unstuck. We can come and either glue them back into place if possible, or replace with new peices if nessersary. The same goes for any damaged strips.
Over time the deck caulking can become hard and part company with the side of the seam, allowing water into the boat or the subdeck. If this happens we can remove the caulking with a special tool, abrade the open seam with sandpaper and apply the new caulking.
To clean the decking, we use a two part chemical cleaner and renovator to bring the deck back to an as new colour getting rid of all the green and grime.
If after years of use and cleaning the teak has become rough and grainy, it can be sanded back to a new finish, providing there is enough depth left in the teak.
After either of the above work has been completed, the deck can then be sealed with a deck sealer or oil to maintain the new look, or as teak is naturally oily you can leave them to go silver.
DO NOT JETWASH YOUR TEAK DECKS AS YOU WILL TAKE YEARS OF LIFE AWAY FROM THEM!
At Octopus Marine in Poole, we pride ourselves in making and fitting top quality synthetic and real teak decks for your yacht or boat.
